Rhubarb is different from most fruit, in fact some people call it a vegetable. Instead of eating the flesh around the seeds we eat the stalk. The leaves are poisonous so you must cut them off. The stalks grow up every year from big roots called crowns and then die back in July and August. We have a long row of Rhubarb along side the greenhouse.

Stewed Rhubarb and custard is good and Rhubarb Crumble is even better!

At the end of March the Rhubarb shoots start to appear

By mid April its about half grown
