Mr Radcliffe's School Garden

Radishes

Radish

Radishes grow quickly and easily but need good moist soil. Just wash them and pop them in your mouth. As they get older they get very hot. Usually a few are sown every two weeks. We have some growing in the cold frame.

I've taken some pictures of them growing. Watch how things change as you go down the page. Click on the pictures to see bigger pictures!

Radish seeds are sown in rows about 2cm apart and 1cm deep.

Young radish

Here they are two weeks later. They must be thinned out now to give them room to grow.

After another month they are ready for eating.
