Climbing Beans

Climbing Beans are a type of French bean and have round pods. They come from South America and don't like frost. They are so nice that even some children like them!

I've taken some pictures of them growing. Watch how things change as you go down the page. Click on the pictures to see bigger pictures!

The beans are sown in pots at the beginning of May. They need to be kept warm to germinate.

After a couple of weeks they have sprouted.

The first row was planted out at the end of May when they had four leaves.

The rest were put out a week later and sticks pushed in for them to climb up.
