Mr Radcliffe's School Garden

Blackberries

Blackberries

We grow backberries round the edge of the vegetable garden. In some parts they are trained along wires but in other places they are just growing wild.

We use blackberries with apples to make a really good apple and blackberry crumble.

They are very similar to Autumn Raspberries and ripen in August and September. The brambles have very sharp thorns so be careful.

I've taken some pictures so you can see how they grow. Click on the pictures to see bigger pictures!

Early June. There are plenty of new shoots and big flower buds.
